Johnny Lee was previously the Workplace Violence Specialist for the North Caolina Office of State Personnel. His responsibilities included offering program consultation and staff development training to all state agencies and universities on workplace violence prevention and management.

He is on the Board of Directors for Business Continuity Planners of the Carolinas, increasing awareness and promoting risk management and emergency response skills for businesses and organizations.

Formerly, he was the co-chair of the Workplace Policies and Public Awareness Committee of the North Carolina Domestic Violence Commission that produced the highly successful State-Wide Summit.  He also sat on the Legislative Issues Committee of the Domestic Violence Commission.

He is an active participant on the national Violence Against Violence Act 2005 reauthorization taskforce, concentrating on developing  employment support components.

As a victim advocate, he is a member of the North Carolina Victim Services Inter-Agency Council. He formerly was on the Board of North Carolina Victim Services Network where he chaired the Certification and Membership committee.

Previously, as the Victim Services Coordinator for the Asheville Police Department, he headed up a unit of staff and volunteer advocates delivering assistance to victims from the crime scene through to sentencing and beyond. While there, he served on the Family Violence Task Force, a network of community resources to develop awareness and coordination of services.

For his published work, he is author of the book, Domestic Violence in the Workplace, published by HRD Press in 2005.

He also wrote for The Voice, the newsletter of The National Coalition of Domestic Violence, the Domestic Violence in the Workplace edition.  He has also written articles on the same subject for The Journal of Safe Management of Disruptive and Assaultive Behavior.

On the subject of armed robbery survival, he is co-author of Armed Robbery Preparation Manual, a CD-based instruction manual that prepares service and retail employees to predict, prepare and survive armed robbery confrontations.

Previously, he lead Outward Bound professional development and leadership courses for six years.

He holds a BA in English Literature from Alfred University in NY and an MS in Experiential Education from Mankato State University, MN.
